Parks of Carrollton

Parks has a QB edge.
Now we have to cash it in.

Ten champions with complete auction records show the league's repeatable winning pattern: spend less than the room at quarterback, build for total points, and preserve enough flexibility to repair the roster after the auction.

The 2026 recommendation

QB1 and Superflex are funded for $49 combined. Use a $10 to $15 QB3 ceiling, nominate expensive quarterbacks early, and redirect the savings toward two premium RB/WR anchors plus a third strong starter.

Combined-pool target: carry roughly $5 to $12 from the auction into FABβ€”not $20 to $50 without a specific waiver plan.

Keeper advantage

$49
Two starting quarterbacks. Recent premium QBs regularly cost $80 to $130 each.

What the last 10 champions actually did

This separates cheap auction QBs, quarterbacks acquired after the auction, and late skill-position hits. β€œCheap” is measured against that season's own market.

Bottom line: cheap QB construction is proven here. Passive roster management is not.

7 of 10champions drafted their QB room below that season's league median.
7 of 10got at least four starts from a quarterback acquired after the auction.
8 of 10got at least six starts from a QB/RB/WR/TE waiver or free-agent addition.
10 of 10got six or more starts from a $5-or-less offensive buy or an in-season addition.

2016Veni vidi viciAbove median
$35 vs. $17 median. Rodgers $31 made 14 starts; Carr $4 made two.
Claimed Jordan Howard for $4. He made nine starts and scored 142.0 starter points.A balanced auction, then a league-winning waiver RB instead of standing still.
2017BlitzkriegNear median
$19 vs. $16.50 median. Cam Newton $18 made 14 starts.
Adam Thielen cost $1 and made 14 starts for 113.0 points. Marvin Jones cost $3 and added eight starts.Won the back half of the auction with two near-free starting WRs.
2018Mr. CommishBelow median
$1 vs. $14.50 median. Traded for Ben Roethlisberger, who made nine starts.
Waiver pickup Tyler Boyd made six starts and scored 82.4 starter points.Paid for McCaffrey, Kelce and Tyreek Hill, then repaired QB and depth through trades and waivers.
2019BlitzkriegBelow median
$4 vs. $10.50 median. Drew Brees made 10 starts for 197.2 points.
Added Hollywood Brown for 10 starts and Jared Cook for seven starts.A $65 McCaffrey anchor, a $4 QB, and fast waiver spending on usable starters.
2020DynastyBelow median
$2 vs. $17 median. Drafted two $1 QBs, then got 11 starts from acquired QBs.
Added Tee Higgins for $16 in waiver money; six starts produced 71.8 points.Built around Dalvin Cook and Davante Adams, then churned the weak QB room without panic spending.
2021Daddy CommishBelow median
$41 vs. $51 median. Lamar Jackson anchored; Taylor Heinicke was added and made nine starts.
Heinicke scored 123.7 starter points. $3 Hollywood Brown added eight starts.Maintained a cheap QB portfolio and kept replacing injured starters instead of forcing one solution.
2022DynastyThe exception
$149 vs. $67 median. Burrow and Stafford were expensive, but $7 Daniel Jones made nine starts.
Free-agent Christian Watson made seven starts and scored 105.3 points. The only QB-heavy champion still needed a cheap third QB and a major free-agent WR hit.
2023🍩Below median
$29 vs. $116 median. Howell $27 made 14 starts; Stafford arrived by trade for four playoff starts.
Waiver TE Sam LaPorta made 14 starts and scored 148.3 starter points.Refused the Superflex QB tax, used WRs in the flex early, then traded for Stafford before the playoffs.
2024Rolling DonutsBelow median
$53 vs. $105 median. Traded Geno Smith and Xavier Worthy for Goff; Goff made 16 starts for 303.3 points.
Sam LaPorta cost $5 and made 14 starts for 112.7 points. Rico Dowdle cost $5 and added eight starts.Turned a modest QB budget into an elite Goff season through one decisive preseason trade.
2025PimpinBallersBelow median
$65 vs. $76.50 median. Four acquired QBs combined for 15 starts behind Purdy and Maye.
$3 J.K. Dobbins made nine starts for 109.6 points. Mac Jones added six QB starts.Paid for Lamb, Henry and Barkley, then relentlessly cycled cheap QBs around injuries.
Below-median QB room: champion's total drafted or kept QB cost was lower than the median team that season.
Acquired QB: added by waiver/free agency or received by trade after the auction. Four starts is the impact threshold.
Meaningful offensive bargain: a $5-or-less QB/RB/WR/TE or in-season addition with at least six starts. K and DEF are excluded.

K and DEF need different rules

Kicker: $0 and no roster spot

The 2026 roster has no kicker position. Aubrey's 16 starts in 2024 showed continuity, not a reusable edge, and kicker results are excluded from every bargain count above.

2026 K slots: 0Auction budget: $0Bench spots: 0
Defense: $1, then stream

Nine of ten champions spent $0 or $1 on DEF at the auction. They used a median of 5.5 defenses during the season, and only two kept one defense for at least 12 starts. Draft one defense for no more than $1, never draft two, and hold only if it becomes an actual top unit.

The league awards extra points for tackles for loss and fourth-down stops, so favor pressure and disruption over name recognition when streaming.

Where Parks can improve

1
Use the combined pool intentionallyParks carried $23 into FAB in 2023, $14 in 2024, and $52 in 2025. Four of the last five champions spent $298–$300 at auction; the fifth spent $288. Keep a modest reserve, not an oversized one.
2
Spend the keeper savings on elite non-QBsStafford and Nix already put Parks below the likely QB market. Do not give the advantage back by buying a luxury QB3.
3
Operate waivers every weekEight of ten champions received at least six starts from a waiver or free-agent addition. The target is starter points captured, not a high transaction count. Weekly high score adds $5 FAB.
4
Use planned trade windowsThe 2023 and 2024 champions fixed QB through timely trades. Review the market after the auction, during Weeks 3–5, and several days before the Week 12 deadline.
5
Play for total pointsParks finished fourth in both 2024 and 2025 but ranked eighth and tenth in regular-season points. Points now pay $250, earn weekly FAB, and award the final two playoff berths.

The QB market changed

EraAvg QB spendLeague capital
2016–2020$1955.4%
2021–2025$1,04729.1%

The current Superflex pricing regime begins in 2021. Older seasons show manager behavior, not today's QB prices.

Why Stafford and Nix fit

$49 combined is below three of the last five champions' initial QB spend and below the league's median QB room in all five seasons. Stafford is the bargain; Nix is the stable mid-market starter.

Correct response: buy one inexpensive QB3, then attack scarce RB/WR production. The four-QB cap includes IR; QB4 is only for a true bargain.

New constitution: rules we must actively manage

1
Never stumble into a fifth QBThe limit is four including IR. One 24-hour cure is allowed for a trade, waiver, or FAB overage; repeated violations ratchet the season-long cap from 4β†’3β†’2β†’1, and failure to cure benches the entire lineup for zero.
2
Set the whole lineup before Thursday kickoffThe constitution is stricter than Yahoo's individual-player locks: every starting spot must be filled before the week's first game.
3
Exploit direct-to-IR addsInjured waiver and free-agent players can be added directly to either IR spot without first dropping a bench player.
4
Know the playoff routesSeeds 1–6 come from record; the two highest-scoring remaining teams take seeds 7–8. The No. 1 seed then chooses its first-round opponent.

The detailed winner table covers 2016–2025 because those ten seasons have complete auction records. Starter points include Weeks 1–16 for 2016–2020 and Weeks 1–17 for 2021–2025, matching the NFL schedule eras. A trade acquisition is separated from a waiver/free-agent pickup in the row text.
